Anyway... VEGAS tomorrow people! If you are there, or going, or visiting. Just look for the loud obnoxious dude with the super expensive jeans on, that'll be me!

San Diego California is it’s own unique animal I finally realized today. Here it is the day before New Year’s Eve. Vegas is quickly approaching, and I think to myself these clothes I own are not Vegas Clothes. I need to get some Vegas clothes. So I head into Nordstrom and felt like I entered the fake zone. In Nordstrom I found myself surrounded by beautiful people who all must have been doctors. You know Nordstrom has jeans for $294.00. Yeah, $294 WTF? Can you afford $294 dollar jeans? I’m not judging anyone, but something tells me the guy in the paramedics t-shirt couldn’t either, but there he was. It was just a really creepy experience for me. I felt like you needed to already be dressed a certain way just to shop there. I mean Nordstrom is a freakin’ department store. It’s not like I was on Rodeo Drive, and walked into a Prada Store. I’m in a department store. Anyway, pretty creepy and fake to me. That didn’t keep me from buying clothing there. I just felt very out of place.

Ever notice how the back area where you get your haircut is like the high alter at church. You’re not really allowed to go back there until they call you, then it’s like you’ve been welcomed into a special club. I mean I understand the waiting area in a Doctor’s office, but they have rooms. The place where you get haircuts just has a little podium separating you from the holy land of better hair.

Based on my current situation I find myself observing couples a lot. Trying to figure them out. Like who wears the pants, and who has lost their looks more, how long they’ve been together, and if they are happy. I’ve figured out that there is no freakin’ way to figure it out. You can look at people for hours, and it’s nearly impossible to tell. After observing the very shallow surface of people’s looks, and demeanor it’s hard to figure anything out. You need to know things. I can’t tell if the guy saved the woman’s life, or the woman makes great sandwhiches, or great quilts, or great money. I really love that about people! It is so damn fascinating how complicated everything involved with us is. I mean take any other animal. There are physical features, fighting ability, food gathering, singing, dancing ability that attract a mate. It’s really really basic. You can be like yeah that Gorilla is friggen huge he’ll probably get all the ladies. Not with us though. Nope, who the hell knows what is going to attract us to each other, and with us both sexes have a say. I’m just hoping my new Guitar Hero stances are what does it for me. I feel like there is a very small niche there that I might be able to exploit.

Anyway… VEGAS tomorrow people! If you are there, or going, or visiting. Just look for the loud obnoxious dude with the super expensive jeans on, that’ll be me!

Today was filled with lots of new things. I started off by changing up my blog theme to something a little easier to read, and easier on the eyes. That required me to update my banner, because I thought the previous one was too negative.

Turns out I installed an old version of the new theme I decided to use (Vigilance) and long and behold I was getting the issues that the old version I installed was known for getting. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize I downloaded the old version so I started freaking out and emailing everyone, tweeting about it, and posting comments on the Vigilance site. I hastily updated to Wordpres 2.7 beta 3 and then figured out all my problems would have quickly been resolved if I wasn’t an idiot. But then most of my problems would be resolved if I wasn’t an idiot.

I think the main contributor to my stupidity is eggnong and Captain Morgan’s Original Spiced Rum. But probably just bad genetics. Yeah, I know blame it on the parents.

In the end I have some new Patio Furniture and a solid buzz from the eggnog and the blog is working fine, and all is well with the world. It’s hard to have to apologize for being stupid, but it’s probably good that I recognize that.

In other news I chased a grasshopper with one leg out of the house. I don’t know how often that happens, the one leg part, with grasshoppers, but it reminded me of the question, “How long would it take a grasshopper with a wooden leg kick all the seeds out of a dill pickle?”

I’ll tell you what’s cute though, is my wife’s absolute horror of bugs. The grasshopper innocently standing on the wall and my wife squeaking about how she isn’t sure how she’s going to get to the stairs which are at least seven feet from the grasshopper. Granted the grasshopper may be able to clear the distance if it jumps, but if it has a personal bubble that has a 7 foot radius that thing is probably tired as hell. Jenny thinks quick on her feet, and immediately grabs the book she is reading, New Moon, and holds it up to the side of her face to shield her eyes from seeing the grasshopper, which I assume she does because everyone knows if you can’t see it, it doesn’t exist, and then she scurries up the steps leaving me to fend for myself. All of these things are great to note if a real crisis ever arrived. If something scarey is happening don’t look at it, but more importantly if Jenny is with me I will soon be alone, or I’ll be dealing with a woman blinded by her eyelids.

I recently had an issue with my TV and I received a blink code on the standby light 4 times. And despite my internet search I was unable to figure out what the fault was from that code. I called Sony tech support and they told me I needed to have the TV serviced. So much for the support. So here I sit waiting on the TV technician who basically got here and called Sony Tech Support and gave them the work oder number and told them the blink code. Shortly after breaking one of the plastic pieces holding in one of the power supplies he asks for a paper clip in order to jam it into the connector to check the power supply.

What I’ve learned. I have a bad power supply board in my TV. Blink code 4 on the Standby light on a Sony Bravia is a backlight problem. So that can be one of a couple things. Either the Power supply board or the inverters that drive the light. If it’s the inverters you pretty much need a new TV. If it’s the power supply board it’s about a $250 part plus the labor. The output of the Power Supply Board in the Sony Bravia should be 18V. Mine has a 7V output, so that seems to be the problem. The yellow board in the picture below is the Power supply.

The Power supply board is connected by 3 connectors and is screwed in. If you have the means to get a new board. It’d save you almost $300.00 in labor costs. You don’t get the limited warranty if you replace it yourself, but there you go. Hopefully this will help some of you out.

Oh, the questions 4-year-olds ask. Where did the Earth come from? And it begins, but what theory should I use? Creationism or Big Bang nucleosynthesis? So I started with a children’s story about Adam and Eve and the 7 days of creation.

So then I was asked, “well if there were only 2 people where did all the people come from?”

And I said, “well they had babies and their babies had babies and on and on.”

Then he says, “so then some of the babies looked different?”

I said, “what do you mean?”

He said, “like some are black and stuff?”

And I said… well there are other theories. So I grabbed A Brief History of Time, and started to talk about singularities and big black holes that eventually start to expand and out came Earth. So my son said which one do you think it is. And I said, “well, I believe in the black hole one.”

And he said, “Me too. That’s right because you can’t have just one person.”

I said, “what, one person?”

“Well,” he continued, “if there is just God, who made him?”

Yeah…. I’m gonna have to save that for another night.

Holy shit man, I’m screwed!!!

Finished the book Style Statement today. I thought I would share my personal style statement Cultured Fun. It’s a pretty good read. It sounds kind of corny to many… Actually maybe it’s just that I feel corny telling people about it, but it’s a pretty great book.

The idea is that everyone has their own unique style. However, there are times looking back on your choices where you did something because at the instant you were making the decision it seemed right, but later asked yourself, what in the world was I thinking. That’s where the Style Statement book comes in. Basically you go through a huge questionnaire, read about other people and their style statements, and by the end figure out what your style is. It seems kind of corny, but I know for me, I get wrapped up in a lot of hype and advertising, and I’ve made some pretty stupid purchases, that really aren’t me. For example, my Wii, Xbox, and PSP were pretty huge wastes of money. I liked them for a little while. I was excited about geting them. And I can’t remember the last time I used them. I do enjoy a video game every now and then, but I’m sure had I read this book a little earlier, I would have put the $1000+ I’ve spent on gaming entertainment to a much more gratifying use.

One thing I will mention is that it is written by two women, so there are times I did feel like a gay, but quickly reassured myself that having done all the experimentation I need, I am in fact straight, just reading a book. The point is it’s not a book for the bi curious or people on the edge, unless you are looking for a push out of the closet.

Seriously it’s not really that bad, there are only a couple of times in the book where I felt like the authors assumed a woman was reading it, otherwise it’s pretty gender neutral. I definitely see the advantage in doing the exercise, and I’m looking forward to using what I’ve learned.

Just trying to keep everyone up to date. Here’s a photo of the current progress on the site. A little proof that I am in fact working on getting this thing up and running and that I didn’t just abandon everyone. It’ll be loaded with features and hopefully will be the only place you will need to go for all information related to Real Estate in Saratoga, NY.

Well it’s starting to feel like winter. The streets are white with salt, and the air is so cold it hurts. One thing that you learn when you live here is that after the temperature cools to about 10 degrees it no longer matters how much colder it gets because you can’t tell. The heat is already leaving your body as fast as it can. It then just becomes a matter of how long it will take for your skin to hurt.

The mountains will finally have some snow. Let the games begin!

Now for the actual point. The Saratoga County Tax Auction is in March of 2007. It may be a big opportunity for you as an investor to purchase property at a discount. Never forget that you make your money on the front in real estate. In other words, you want to make sure you get the best deal possible going in, in order to make sure you’ll have a good return on the way out.

Here’s the site you’ll want to check out Saratoga County Tax Auction. It has a flyer with information and a link to the properties that will be coming up for auction. They aren’t up yet, but you’ll want to bookmark that page.
