Professional Karaoke and Sheets that Suck
Last night was my first night at a non-amateur night karaoke bar. Even Greg said, “I feel like Duey having to go on stage following Elvis!” No one was off pitch, no one was tone deaf, someone even brought a tambourine. I mean seriously, how do you follow that up. Our first song was “Jeremy”, which is a pretty heavy song for a bar. It didn’t seem so bad until Pat Benatar showed up to sing “Heartbreaker”. So we did the only thing you can do in that situation. Drink more! I find I can commit to higher notes, and more entertaining dances/moves when the blood alcohol level is way up.
After Jeremy, it was Sweet Caroline, which is the classic, so there was much more involvement! SO GOOD, SO GOOD, SO GOOD! We finished it up with “My Life” So we ended fairly strong, and the more drunk we, and everyone else got, the better it all became, but there were some seriously talented people there and I don’t know if Greg and I could possibly go back without having practiced several hours prior. I think I may stretch out before hand, even take a power nap, to be better rested for any jumping splits, or Guitar Hero stances. I mean it was way hardcore.
In other news I’ve decided the worst sheets ever are the cotton jersey sheets. It’s like if you don’t have a friend to help you put the fitted sheet on you might as well not buy these sheets. You would think I bought a single sheet and was trying to put it on a king size bed. Those damn corners wouldn’t stay, I was ready to throw the whole mattress out the window. Avoid jersey sheets! They’re comfortable, but only if you can get them on the mattress. Then when you finally do, you’ll be so pissed off you can’t even sleep.

I hope you’ve been practicing, because we are going back Friday! You should wear your Vegas jeans, they will make the singing much better. By the way, we need to go shopping for karaoke CD’s, I don’t want to be the only ones there who use the “house” music.
Yeah we should definitely cheat like everyone else, and bring our own stuff. Of course, this really opens us up Greg… If we practice and still suck, that’s gonna hurt a lot more then if we just do what we always do and wing it!
