Is that light or dark at the end of the US tunnel?
Who’s supposed to be spending all this money to keep the economy on it’s feet? I guess it has to be the government since it looks like no one else has any money! The private sector just slashed 250,000 jobs in November. It’s no wonder that foreclosures are up, and consumer confidence is down. It’s not truly a lack of consumer confidence, it’s a lack of consumer employment.
They are bailing out companies to keep them from going bankrupt, and part of the deal is the companies are cutting costs, aka cutting jobs, which in turn raises the number of people unemployed, which in turn lowers consumer confidence, which in turn lowers the value of company stock and total working capital in the market, which lowers corporate profits, which lowers total government tax revenue, which does what exactly? I don’t quite see what the upside of all this is. I guess the rich get to stay rich and keep their jobs as CEO, not to mention the politicians that ignored the warnings. So as crime goes up, because of poverty going up, we’ll increase the need for attorneys, which will ensure that our politicians will remain employed long after we figure out that they are incompetent at running the country, because then they can go into trial law representing the crooks that they created, and finally drive the country 6 feet into the ground. I see the light!! No… wait… I’m not an attorney, or a politician, or a CEO for that matter.
Sorry I sort of got caught up there. I try not to be a pessimist, because I think that the US has some pretty smart people, and like I always say it’s all about the people, but what are we doing here? Somewhere, someone has some money. It’s not like it disappeared! So who has it? I can only assume Exxon after posting a $14.8 billion profit. That’s a lot of cash. Not $800 billion a lot, but if they keep skimming off the pot at that rate, I’d say they may have a lot of money. Of course, for that to be entirely true they would also have to horde it or burry it, so that is implausible too.
Someone SHOOOWWWW MMEEEEE THHEE MONNNEEEEYYY! It’s like the whole damn world is traded on options, and everyone was way to bullish and thought we had bought our way into heaven, and then Revelations… Maybe we should be paying more attention to those guys with the signs about the end being near. Maybe those are the guys we need to follow.
