Zoo Animals, Heroes or Captives?

I love the zoo, but I wonder if I should. I love seeing the animals, and being educated on the issues, but I feel bad for these animals being in cages. It’s like these animals are taking one for the team so their brothers and sisters and cousins and aunts and uncles can get better protection in the home land. Is that sad, or does it make these animals heroes.
